| Hai. Most likely I'll redo the white west part, it's too large right now and doesn't look like what it's supposed to be. I created the high and low of the box on his chest, too, but I'm too lazy to take a picture right now. Crit awaaaay! | |

| Yeah, a lot of details are still missing, just wanted to see if there are any crits already. | |

| New chest (and back) piece looks way better I think. And is more accurate to the movies, too. So, boots, some belt details, face, helmet. Plus various smaller things going along with that. | |

| Maybe tone down the folds around the elbows a little? It might end up looking a little weird when it is being deformed, depending on the actual edge loops on the model. | |

| Terach, I hear the animator speaking... I think the 'front' will be fine, I forgot how the back at the elbow looks like tho. Maybe I'll do a quick transpose to see how it looks angled. And BTW, if you think that some edge loops on some models are really bad and should be changed to deform well just tell me, then I can fix em. And thanks, Leph. | |

| If your other models are similar to how you did your rebel trooper, then the edge loops are fine for now. There's some distortion in the elbows and knees but it's not really noticeable. Also if you're doing them in parts, can you combine the main body (not accessories like backpack) into one mesh at the end? It'll make skinning a lot easier and there wont be large gaps like with the current rebel trooper. Not too important right now since I'm still working on the rig. | |

| Alright, I'll still look at some other characters to see how they did their loops. And the main mesh should be no problem, I just was too lazy to compile it all together into one after retopoing in TopoGun, which sadly won't let me load multiple objects... | |

| Yes, yes, everything in the works. Just didn't get there yet. The non-zbrush stuff (hard surface) will be the last because then the placement is somewhat final and I don't have to switch between ZBrush and XSI all the time. And thanks for the ref, I was missing some closeups for some details. | |

| No probs dude happy to help. And the pilot looks great, btw. I really like the folds and stuff. Seems more rugged. | |

| Coming along very nicely! One thing to look out for imo would be to make sure that the art style isn't too different from the other models you've made, unless you change those too. | |

| Here you have your cylinders! Are you happy now?! (They're partly hidden, on the right side of the belt.) Right now I think I'm doing a way better job than with the rebel trooper. Looking back, that one was a bit rushed. And it missed quite a lot of details I could have put in. Approaching this one very differently, more baking from high polies, less 'cheating' with textures. And generally more attention to detail. Something with the perspective of that image is off BTW. And if you're wondering, I based the legs on SWBF's rebel pilot, that one had such black leather boots. Anyone has any suggestions for some details on the back and left side of the belt? I couldn't find anything and right now I can't invent anything either, too tired, so... your arts... let them fly! And give me any crits you have, because I can take it, because I'm not a hero... And Cameron, folds are basically folds, a lot depends on the texture and shading to make an art style. I'll make every new character as good as possible, if he's turning out to be quite different from the characters before him I'll compare, find what the actual differences are and see if the positive differences in the new character are worth something. If they are, I'll incorporate those changes in the old models. It's good that characters are rather 'independent', they don't effect the game(play) in any way (compared to env art). So, with every model I'll try to get it more and more realistic, it's not like I'm perfect, you will surely notice a quite large difference in quality between the (rebel) Snowtrooper and the pilot. And between the pilot and the next character. If the gap becomes too large I'll just redo the (a lot) older ones if the time is there. | |

| Awesome work Ben. Everyone is learning all the time after all I don't think the belt need more things because otherwise it will get too crowded. Especially on the back. This might be too much of a detail but you can make it like those belts with bigger threads so they are noticeable. Or just paint them later in the textures, but i think it will be easier if you use a ref picture and directly overlay it on these parts, without the color(just use it as a bump map sort of and sculpt it from the pic). Not sure how it was called this function when using a picture to sculpt but that way you can get some nice effects. Edit: Something like this: http://img.tjskl.org.cn/nimg/bd/f4/fa0ed983efcbcf9805eb3bf46cf7-0x0-1/brown_military_army_duty_belt_swat_tactical_gear_with_width_55mm.jpg | |

| Yeah as Sharky said, stuff on the back is not needed since it'll just be annoying to the pilot when he's sitting in the pilot seat. maybe try and take inspiration from real life jet fighters, I guess that's were Lucas took his. otherwise, it looks excellent as it is. | |

| I like the belt as is, although maybe it might look cool to try and use the military belt. But I think it should be close to canon as possible. So that Wedge reference pic should be duplicated as best as possible, while still adding in a couple things to make it unique. The only thing that I think is missing is the little cylinder pouch on the sleeve, and maybe add a few of those little cylinder things on the belt too. Is the tube that connects to the box going to be put in later? Your work keeps getting better and better though man. I can definitely see an improvement over the rebel Hoth trooper. The Hoth trooper looks slightly cartoony, the pilot looks more real. | |

| The tube's gonna come later. I added one small pack where he could store smaller tools, or a radio, or whatever, to the left side of his belt. That's gonna be enough of details for the belt I think. I looked at TFU's Pilot Luke model (which is not very good IMO, most of the TFU characters look a bit weird), that one only had some metal things which looked like bottle openers, so what I have now is fine. I'll try Sharky's suggestion for the material of the belt (I already had that in mind cause I saw it in one of the refs), but only in the texture later, then I can switch it out if it doesn't look good. And Sharky, if I get your right I think it's 'alphas' in ZBrush. I'd say the biggest part of the sculpt is done, the shape won't change a lot anymore, just some folds and details need a bit more iteration. So I began retopoing, I hope I can bake it in the next days to see how it turns out and make any necessary adjustments. And, of course, thanks for your nice comments. Keep any suggestions coming. | |

| On a sidenote, maybe if you have time later, you can improve the rebel trooper. | |

| Yes, that's on my todo list. But before that I want to create at least 2 characters (the pilot and someone else) so it's worth it. | |

| Helmet high WIP. Needs to be tightened or loosened up in some places. The shape is quite hard to get right cause it's so blobby. | |
