EARLY WORK - No crits please. I really need to think about how I'm going to work this one. My work might be a little bit slower compared to my other models cause of I need to think about a lot of stuff.

Cool. I'd forgotten how awesome some of the SW guns looked (being based on WW2 weaps make it even more great).

That's the a295 which is based on the stg44. A280 is based on the m16 / AR-15

Are you using Arch & Design materials? Definitely has a nice look to it. Might be good to have everyone who can follow a similar look for more uniform updates.

^That's what I use for all my high poly stuff then save as a .tga duplicate and run a high pass filter at a low setting to catch some edges then set that to overlay

The one thing that really stands out to me though is the indent on the stock(?) which should have accumulated quite a bit of dirt in the indent an a bit more wear on the edges of the indent.

Cool stuff man.
I agree with scratches and stuff, but soldiers are trained to keep guns clean, actually, anybody who uses a gun keeps it clean. Only AK's fire after being buried in dirt for 50 yrs, and even they need an oil up.
I know they probably don't use oil in SW, but I guess they still have to keep them clean. All that dust in the focusing chambers and electronics wouldn't be good at all.
IMO, it shouldn't have any\loads of dirt.
