| UPDATE: This idea has come into effect. Lephenix is the lead designer for Jabba's Palace and King (Thomas Johnson) is lead designer for the Jedi Temple.
Hello fellow co-workers, I have a big suggestion, Every artists of the team (who want to do it, of course) could do their own world and maybe team with some other members, but everyone could help each other, there should be one main artist for an environment because otherwise there might be differences in 'style' and level of detail in one map. if needed he should be able to request props/textures/code. For example: - SharkY is already the main guy for Hoth - King wants to do the Jedi Temple - Me, i have to choose What do you think? I have already votes from some members:
Ande - Yes Deforges - Yes Me - Yes Rocknroll - Yes Sceluk - Yes Ben2356 - Yes

| I'm undecided because this might be unnecessary once an art design booklet is made.
But it might help with making even more consistent art work...
Having a project lead on each map might help structure things too.

About the art design booklet, this might not be unnecessary since it is made especially for that suggestion, to keep the same art style in the level and between the levels, also i agree about your 2 other arguments, so what's your vote?

| Could we have it so that each environmental artist work on what they see and think the map should look like and then at the end everyone votes on the best and that person's version is the final. Otherwise I would like a basic map that isn't too complex like Genosis or something but I'll do whatever is needed. | |

| One main env artist per map who does most of the work per map and has a rough idea about how the different ares of the map will look has many advantages: - One art style, no difference of style/detail/skill. - He knows what's needed -> if needed can request specific assets, not just 'we need, like, a room...'.
The workflow for that one map would be: - Main artist + rest of team agree on a design/layout. - Main artist makes blockout. (- Maybe some testing.) - If something just doesn't work out, redesign. - Main artist creates env (maybe with help from other artists, like animators, texture artists etc)
@Ben: That first suggestion is not good. If we do that many of our env artists would spend months creating an env which won't be used in the end. Not every env artist has to do a map right now, or do a map at all. If you really want to do a map then start thinking about the layout and post it in it's own topic in the Maps subforum.

I agree about all, especially the workflow, it is what i had in mind. So let's get started once done with my GONK . I might make Mustafar, i'll see.

| Yeah we need map leads. 1 lead for each map, so they can focus on it. I agree. | |

| Glad the idea is working for you guys, this way we'll be able to make more worlds, have the same style in the level, and since it is one artist/world, he'll know what we'll be needed, can do his blockout alone, etc... And it is also exciting. I added your vote. | |

| Yeah I see your point, I should have seen that also but I was tired last night . I agree with the environment lead though to keep the maps consistent. Count me in as a yes! | |

| hi I am new to this forum,
But I think the level of detail issue can be easily fixed, if everyone just keeps up the same texel density in their models their shouldn't be any problem with keeping that on the same level. But I do think that getting each level a lead is a good idea since you need someone who keeps final control to everything that is done. And since the game is a star wars theme I don't think that styles ultimately will be that much different from each other. |
