Thought we should have a discussion about rigging the Walkers in the game.

We'll need to have the AT-ATs and AT-STs animated for the Alpha.

3ds Max Point Of View:

Simple as for the AT-ST, can easily use biped. AT-AT on the other hand, has four legs and I haven't tried to see if biped lets you have more than two legs. Another option is using a CAT rig.

This is a repurposed humanoid biped, using the arms as front legs. Looks to work out fine.

AFAIK the AT-AT is still in high-poly state and I'm not sure if it will progress in the near future as Eric seems to be busy.
The AT-ST is Sharky's, and I think it has a lowpoly. So that might be better for testing stuff out.

In terms of needed animations I assume it'll work out similar to characters, just a bit more limited.
Forward move
Backwards move
Turn right
Turn left

And the head would be handled like the tank main gun turret.

Is the high poly AT-AT finished though? Someone else could do a bake. If not, then someone could also pickup where he left off.

I believe the AT-AT has a more subtle motion than just the legs moving, I'd like to animate the walkers if possible.

Knock yourself out, less work for me lol.

I was just doing a rough test to see if I could turn a two legged biped into a four legged biped. The animation was only very quick. Very Happy
