Here's what i got. These are more like schematics but if you want pictures from any angle you can search for master replicas of the falcon. They should be enough.

It's kinda big but a lot is in there.

Also take a look here. This guy did the Millenium Falcon in 3d very well and you can use the pics too ;]

Thanks for the refs Sharky. That PDF is sweet.
Obviously it's no where near finished, but here it is so far.

Nice start. Can't see anything wrong right now but I have no clue about the details of Star Wars vehicles. I bet Sharky can find something. Wink

Keep it up!

Good work so far. I neither can't seem to find anything wrong. That happens when you got good refs ;P
But yeah, the basic shape is as you got it. Its not something very complex. The problem comes with the lots of details

If you haven't made a low poly yet i suggest you to make one when its early and if you haven't made many details on them main body because i see a lot of baking.
Not sure how you did these lines on the main body that are like panels but i guess you cut them in the main shape?

I'm sure you are planning these but just in case you haven't noticed. These panels on the main body should not be straight lines but more like crooked.

Re: baking.
It seems there's not a lot geometry you can mirror or places where you can reuse texture space, so, on the parts where you can mirror stuff (those 2 things at both sides in the middle of the main part; the panels behind those 2 parts, at the back; the 2 protruding front parts), DO IT.
You can't really use tiling textures anywhere because it's so unique so you most likely gotta use something like 2k x 4k (more likely 4k x 4k) to get a good resolution.

And just as a general guideline, the snowspeeder LOD0 is about 30k tris, so the Falcon LOD0 can be relatively high-poly (maybe 60-70k?).

Is anyone still working on this?
Either way, we need the exterior for Hoth, as well as the interior later on.

I'm still working on this. There is still a great deal to do.

I duped the body and cut into it for the panel planning. I'm trying to make sure its fairly simple to remove detailed parts; so I can downsize the tris n polys later. At the moment I'm adding loads to then bake.

The bits in white are pretty much done.

In terms of size, its all in scale with itself, however I'm unsure if its the correct size overall. (I used documented dimensions apparently). Whats the best way to check though?

Thoughts so far?

This looks really nice and very well detailed, just how i like it ;P

Could you provide us the basic mesh with the basic shapes etc. We will need it to see how it looks when its put in the Echo base. Just to get the sense of things. All you need to do is to give us the model (with no textures of course) in .obj file.
The best way to check the size is in the Editor. I will be able to test it in game and see what the approximate size should be so it looks like in the movies.

You can check the details from Wookiepedia.
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Millennium_Falcon

Mostly standard for a ship of its class. Length 34.37 m. Width 25.61 m

Thanks for the size details sceluk, it's now that size.

Sharky, heres a link to the megacloud falcon .Obj - Obviously massively cut down, some though proOptimizer, so I hope it works.

As for progress, here is the latest. Again, white is what I think is fully completed. There are deliberate holes between segments.

I love it so far, great job!

Though I don't envy you UVWing & baking that thing, weapons are bad enough for me lol.

Lots of great detail, it's gonna be a great looking prop (and hopefully a fully flyable model after the Alpha!)

Wow, the detail is fantastic, keep it up!

Also, I think I might show this as a WIP for the update today if you don't mind.
